Mayweather and Tyson Agree to Exhibition Bout in 2026
Two of boxing’s biggest icons are set to share the ring. Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Mike Tyson have officially agreed to an exhibition fight scheduled for spring 2026, organizers confirmed this week. The event will be promoted by CSI Sports/Fight Sports, though an exact date, location, and broadcast details remain under wraps.
Mayweather, 48, retired from professional boxing in 2017 after stopping MMA star Conor McGregor, finishing his career with an unblemished 50–0 record. Since then, he has appeared in several high-profile exhibitions, including bouts against Logan Paul and, most recently, John Gotti III in August 2024.
Tyson, 59, last stepped into the ring in November 2024, when he faced Jake Paul at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. That event drew more than 65 million concurrent viewers on Netflix, setting a record as the most-streamed sporting broadcast ever.
Fighter Reactions
“This fight is something neither the world nor I thought would happen,” Tyson said in a statement. “Boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable — and this fight is as unpredictable as it gets.”
Mayweather struck a confident tone: “I’ve been doing this for 30 years, and there hasn’t been a fighter who can tarnish my legacy. If I do something, it’s going to be big and legendary. This exhibition will give the fans exactly what they want.”
What to Expect
While labeled an exhibition — meaning Mayweather’s professional record remains untouched — the event is expected to be one of the most-watched matchups in years, uniting two household names who dominated different eras of the sport.
Promoters have hinted at new production technology and a global promotional campaign that could set fresh benchmarks for how boxing is presented and consumed.
